Manbird is a poetical documentary about the folkloric 'pigeon man' of Chicago's Lincoln Square. Throughout the years millions of people stopped at the busy intersection of Lawrence Street and Western Avenue to watch Joseph Zeman sitting on top of a hydrant, entirely covered by birds. The pigeon man's presence brought joy and hatred to the neighborhood's residents. His Franciscan message of peace was out of reach to most, who simply thought of him as a 'crazy' person. Manbird shows that Joe Zeman might have been the sanest presence in the whole neighborhood.
