Mid-1970s: Idealistic, artsy guy out for a drive with his more practical minded girl. A couple of beers, the car runs out of fuel, mayhem and argument ensues. She hitch-hikes off, angry, accepting a ride from a more upscale male figure. The boyfriend, alone and despondent roadside, sets off to retrieve his woman.
