Mary MacLane, the 'wild woman of Butte, Montana' wrote her first sensational memoir in 1902 at the age of 19 selling almost 100,000 copies in its first month. She went on to pursue various careers as a journalist, a gambler, a Bohemian, a prize-fight reporter, and a movie star. She wrote, directed, and starred in a film about her life in 1917. This short film stands as a recreation of that lost silent film.
