Artists in Residence is a view into an alternative lifestyle. The film follows a group of disenfranchised people as they pool their resources to create a permanent space for themselves. After decades of being forced out of their homes by gentrification, a group of 25 Chicago artists buy a building and create an intentional community of affordable artist live/work space. When their new units are damaged from construction problems, their struggle turns inward. The contentious battle between the residents threatens the success of their project. Will the urge to protect their own property trump their community living ideals?
