1930, living in Shanghai with entirely different backgrounds and lifestyles, the two women have one thing in common - hopelessness in men and this world. San, the poor housewife, has become a sad figure who automatically tolerates whatever happens to her. Fey, the night club singer, is trapped in the 'fantasy' world where she can never step back. Both of them lost their dreams and souls in this distorted world. The two finally meet each other and start loving, though at the end, due to the abnormality in the traditional society, they are forced to walk away from each other to preserve this precious emotion.
