Joyce Calhoun has lived behind the closed doors of her apartment for the past seven years. On the surface, she appears in control, but her long time family friend and only visitor Deacon Carter has a growing concern, not only about the solitude, but her escalating paranoia and recent panic attacks, coupled with her obsession for horror movies. During his visit, he speaks to her about seeking help, but Joyce refuses, arguing 'I like living apart from the rest of the world', and that 'I do enjoy a good ghost story'. That evening, Joyce suddenly finds herself in the dark. Sounds from the other side of the door, causes panic to overpower her, spinning her into uncontrollable fear.
