Based on the filmmakers own experience, On the Brink of Sound uses dramatic storytelling elements, actual surgery footage and experimental use of sound to convey the experience of living with a hearing impairment and then developing a new world perspective via the process of a hybrid cochlear implant and a broader spectrum of sound.
