Charing Cross tells the story of an old widower who lives in solitude in his old flat. He relies on medical care he receives from his oldest daughter. The only contact he has to the outside world are the people of the neighborhood he meets on his daily walk around his block. One day he passes by a bakery where he sees a girl in the shop window. He returns to the bakery every day to make contact with the girl but he finds out that she is mute/deaf. United by their loneliness the two very unlikely people start a friendship condemned by society. They are forced to find a different way of communication and soon realize that words are not necessary to express feelings.
