'Karl' is based on Franz Kafka's 'America' and shall convey the audience into Karl's bizarre mind, the ups and downs of his attraction to a girl called Clara ending with an unexpected disappointment. The movie concentrates on atmosphere and the feeling one has when reading the book 'America': being trapped in the meander and labyrinth of Karl's head, his reception of an environment without logic and sense. Some of the original dialogs of the book between Karl and Clara are taken in order to confront the audience with the artificiality of 'America'.
