Lisa Maren Stein stars in title role of the romantic dramedy Gillian. When Gillian goes to her first physical therapy appointment the last thing she imagines is the ambiguously attractive genderqueer therapist Michal (Mim Weisburd). Yet, imagining her life without her soul crushing boyfriend pushes her further into the pursuit. The last thing Michal needs is to fall for one of hir patients, but Gillian seems to awaken long dormant feelings that ze has tried to push away. Oblivious to all of the back and forth attraction is Gillian's boyfriend, the consistently bitter Steff (Martin Rawlings-Fein), who can't wait to get out of the building when dropping off Gillian. Over time Gillian's knee gets better and her independence from Steff grows and gives Gillian a myriad of possibilities. After all, rules are meant to be broken.
