Just as WWII was starting, a young Grace found an everlasting love with Joseph. As quickly as it came, it also went away when her love enlisted in the war. Joseph disappeared and Grace was pressured into marrying another man. In time, all she had left of Joseph was his handkerchief and suppressed memories. Many years later, Grace's husband dies and her daughters have to come to terms with their father's death and the recent knowledge that he had been an abusive husband. In the meantime, Grace's suppressed memories come alive as she remembers what love is, what love was and what love could be.
