Following the instructions of a mysterious recipe written on papyrus, the alchemist strives to hold the power over the world in his hands. But as soon as he adds the necessary ingredient of 'materia animalis', which is a living being, the mixture obtains power over its creator. Even though the alchemist tries to soothe the brew with a further admixture of gold, he cannot escape becoming an ingredient himself.
