In a small gothic town, somewhere in Victorian England, the writer of horror fiction Edgar is struggling to pen the 'perfect novel', but lacks inspiration. When the smarmy custodian of the local lunatic asylum pays Edgar a visit one night, a pact is made to resume a dark and devilish practice, with tragic and deadly consequences.
