On a bright summer's day, two teenagers, Claire and Brian, talk wistfully about the future. A mysterious man, Riley, strikes up a conversation with the Claire. Wary at first, she warms to his quirky personality as he shares stories about his life. Claire begins to suspect that Riley might be her father, whom she has never known. She probes, but his answers leave her confused. Finally, Claire asks Riley if she will ever see him again and he replies that you never know when things will come back into your life. Riley leaves and Brian returns with a present, a ring.
