During the struggling years of the great depression, two best friends, Willie Pastrano and Ralph Dupas operate a small shoeshine stand on Bourbon Street, in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter. However, when a local Irish priest chooses to help them, Willie and Ralph grow to become boxing champions. Throughout their journey, the friends must deal with drug addiction, betrayal, mafia-ties and the New Orleans racially charged court system. All the while, the men are 'fighting' to keep a shared secret, which could destroy them both, professionally and personally.
