Dance marathon contests are an almost forgotten phenomenon of the past. During the Great Depression the contests attracted people to compete for prize money. However, only the dancing couple that danced the longest could win 1000 dollars. Also, they were getting free food. The marathon usually last several weeks. One by one the contestants were dropping off until there was only one couple left. The dancers were allowed 10-minutes rest every two hours...
