Two heavyset anchorites (who look almost the same in fortunate lighting) lead a lonesome, orderly life between prawn shelling, peat cutting, the roughness of the north Friesland landscape and the endless horizon. They have not exchanged words for years, their life together is well rehearsed, ritualized, reduced to the necessary and always the same. One day a new member joins their little, orderly family. The harmony is gone. Jealousy, distrust, conflict and envy break into the ascetic silence and start to destroy their arrangement. Under the surface of their rituals the trouble seethes.
