How did 'government' take something so simple, manufactured predominantly from the resources of trees and ink, to create this concept called currency? Trees & Ink portrays how the power of money conditions society and addresses the simplicity of it behind its perceived value. Bursting with ambition and hope, Georgie Martinez is a struggling musician aspiring to succeed. Although he understands the need for financial stability, he does not see eye to eye with the superficial mentalities in his environment, from strangers to his own family. After his girlfriend kicks him out of her apartment, he reaches a God-given fortune that same night and ironically wins the lottery, over a million dollars. When one door closes, another door opens. Weeks after his victory, his life flips upside down. Struggling through betrayal, deceit, vanity and fear, he matures psychologically, enough to see beyond the blinding light of his bank account. Ultimately, he takes the money and makes a drastic move to regain control over his destiny. What happens next? He's still human.
