When Mikey, the son of a small town family, revisits his long abandoned and ruined home, he catalyzes a journey of remembrance back into his childhood. Through a hybrid of documentary images and dramatized bits of memory, he relives his early family dysfunction, his father's unexpected death, and the devastating effects this has upon his mother. When it becomes clear to him that there is little hope in staying home in isolation with his distraught mother, Mikey leaves for the Army in order to seek a more healthy and free life for himself. In this intimate portrayal of a family's struggle with death and abandonment, we are reminded of life's always present impermanence.
