In WW1, two English soldiers are trapped in an advance trench on the Western front. With no reinforcements coming, they know they will die in the next German attack. During a moment of quiet, they discuss their lives and argue over principles of politics, religion and class. The dying light illuminates the plight of unknown soldiers whose lives were wasted in the first world war.
