A boy sits in his room tying a noose as his oblivious mother attempts to get him to greet the guests. The boy says that he is busy and is unable to go downstairs. His mother becomes enraged and goes on about how much of a bad impression he would be making by not welcoming the visitors. As she says this, her son is throwing his rope over a ceiling beam, standing on a chair and placing the noose around his neck. He jumps of the chair, hanging himself. His mother exits the room and tells her guests that her son is simply 'not with them at the moment'.
