'Between Silence & the Sea' is a lyrical meditation about connections within the landscape of one's mind and lived experience-and how these connections form a wellspring for creativity. Exploring these connections through painting, the video moves inward toward personal memories, back through time to our early hominid ancestors, and out to the overarching web of life. 'Between Silence & the Sea' delves into layers of experience, memory and awareness. Memory and awareness are called up much like life's cyclic rhythms-symbolized by water-tides, waves, ripples, receding and returning. Music builds in waves. Like breaths, vocalizations rhythmically expand and contract. Beauty, art and profound moments touch us deeply. These are ineffable moments-full of meaning, deeply felt; then gone. Yet they remain in mysterious ways, waiting to be recalled-drawn up from a well of creativity-to be re-experienced, and perhaps reborn. When such moments re-emerge as art, beauty and meaning intertwine and rise to the surface.
