Oasis on the Southside

Oasis on the Southside tells the story of a mother - Gaylon and her daughter - Zoi struggling to eat healthy in one of the unhealthiest communities in the United States, Chicago's Southside. With insight from some of Chicago's most experience food activists from Growing Home and The George Washington Carver Farms, Oasis on the Southside sheds a light on an often overlooked issue that has taken more lives in the black community than gun violence. How can an African-American family living in a food desert avoid the obesity, heart disease and dietary dangers that have become all too common in their environment?
