The Inspiration of Charlotte Burke

Charlotte Burke is an aspiring artist. Though everyday she faces a tough situation with a smothering and bold teacher, Mrs. Stochern, and a boy, Will, who seems to have done something unspeakably horrible to her, her whimsical imagination seems to always get her through. However, art is becoming not only a release for Charlotte, but also a means of revenge. She has taken to drawing Will as a yellow jacketed demon in her sketches and thinks that entering one of them into an art festival will bring her peace. She is fascinated by the book they're reading in English class, Pygmalion, and the idea that an artist could sculpt their perfect situation. Of course, it all comes crashing down when Charlotte leaves her sketchbook behind in class one day. She starts to freak out. Could Will have found it? Will he think she's pathetic? Will he maybe even... apologize if he sees her drawing? But soon Charlotte has to face reality and realize that her drawings can't be, (and well...never really were,) about Will. Art isn't about the subject. Art is about the artist.
