A black comedy featuring a depressed, unemployed Harry on the brink of killing himself. Today is his 30th birthday. His delusional wife is intent on celebrating Harry's birthday. She arrives home to find Harry with a gun and the situation intensifies together with their desperation. The film and the soundtrack reflect pulp magazines popular during the mid-20th century through its ironic mix of humour and violence, melancholy and operatic climax and is directed in a highly stylized manner.
