Belgium 1945, unpopular U.S. Army sergeant Joe Townsend is selected by his captain to deliver a package to a nearby town. Angered by the minuscule mission assigned to him, Townsend sets off along with a young Private on the run and discovers an improbable connection with the naive younger man.
