Pinchas has a photographic memory, and no physical documentation of his family from before or after World War 2. His mothers recipe's, that he remembers from his childhood, are the most tangible way for him to connect to the memory of his family, whom were murdered in the Holocaust. As Pinchas creates this dish, he is bringing memories of the past into his current life with his wife Dorothy, evoking bitter sweet memories.
