'Gorongosa Rising' tracks the success of the Gorongosa Restoration Project in Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique, and its impact on the life of one young Mozambican man who calls the park home. Gorongosa National Park was once among the most abundant wildlife sanctuaries in all of Africa. It was visited by tourists from around the world. However, the park was largely destroyed by warfare lasting from the late seventies until the early nineties. During this time, most of Gorongosa's large animals were slaughtered, and the park's once-thriving ecosystem was critically damaged. Gorongosa-the pride of a nation-seemed to be broken beyond repair. 'Gorongosa Rising' connects with an aspiring conservationist who is working to restore life in Gorongosa, and thus to restore hope for a better tomorrow in Mozambique.
