An unseen man has died leaving a wife and his teen daughter to sort through his belongings. The wife is burdened by her grief and memories. The daughter seems to have drawn inward as the people around her are preoccupied or cruel. Apart they experience separate, traumatic events, but then some together to watch Johnny Depp die in the film 'Dead Man.' Yet he doesn't really die, does he? Under their grief and drudgery, this mother and daughter aren't dead either. They finally do find some life by being a bit silly, letting their guard down and just being together.
