Through a foggy rural village in the middle of winter, a little boy is sprinting with an older man trailing behind him. The boy is taking a traditional Korean doctor to see his sick mother whom he has been caring for by himself. After examining the boy's mother, the doctor leaves shaking his head sadly. Following advice mentioned in passing by the doctor, the boy sets out to find frogs to use as medicine for his mom.
