Ben Winkle, an ordinary middle class man is struggling to keep up appearances. Ben is beset with financial problems; a wife at home and bills mounting his thoughts become ever more irrational. One evening after returning from a fruitless day of job hunting, he is faced with a series of events that tips him over the edge. Without much of a clue, he makes a choice that could forever change his life, embarking on a journey of trying to pull something off that isn't him.
