Originally an impounded work of guerrilla art in 1989 by sculptor Arturo Di Modica, Charging Bull - the iconic 7,000 pound bronze bull - has since become the image that launched Occupy Wall Street and the leading symbol for the excess of the American financial system. For more than a year, Charging Bull has been under 24-hour police protection by the same NYPD that carted him away 23 years earlier. The film recounts his history from ticker tape parades, 9/11, to his current plight. Through voice over narration by a life-long New Yorker, Charging Bull comes to life and speaks of his lament of being the target of protesters and the icon for Wall Street greed. We learn about all he has seen in the past two decades while living in his still 'temporary' home on Lower Broadway which is located within the Canyon of Heroes (the route for New York City's famed ticker tape parades. The film highlights the irony of how one generation's symbol of artistic expression and defiance against government can quickly become the next generation's symbol for what is wrong with our country.
