Heaven is the latest film from Vertical Cinema Productions. The company was set up in order to explore the potential that new technology offers for changing the parameters of cinema production. By shooting and displaying films in a vertical (portrait) format, the company reconfigures traditional modes of cinematography, particularly composition and framing. In Heaven, two layabouts offer cheap thrills to the clients and tourists they encounter on the streets of Wellington. While the poker-faced protagonists nod confidently as they sell their wares, their clients never receive quite what they were expecting.
