Amanda and Julieta are two Colombian sisters who live in Spain while their deaf mother lives alone on a remote farm in Colombia. One day the y both start taking pictures in different places in Barcelona, pictures which give the impression that they are older and socially more elevated than they actually are. Then they organize some post-dated letters that describe Julieta's emotional and economical stability. Once these tasks are finished, Julieta commits suicide and Amanda conceals this from her mother by using the letters and the photos, leading her to believe that her daughter Julieta is still alive and happy.
