The Dance

🎞️ Movie 5 min --
2012

The short film The Dance is a homage and visualization of the deconstruction of ideology. In this case in respect to gender expectations and assumptions on how relationships have to look like. It is also an attempt to grasp William Carlos Williams' poem The Dance in moving pictures. A poet who has deconstructed poetic structures and imagery and thus made way for a new poetic thinking. A voice recites the poem while the camera switches in between two views: a woman sitting in an armchair watching a super 8 movie. and a group of dancers that (following the poem's lines) whirl and glide until they take another partner, or two. The connection of these two images is up for interpretation. As is the dance.
