Qawwali music, popularized by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, is an Indo-Pakistani music intended to convey the message of mystical Sufi poetry and to arouse in the listener the ecstasy of the union with the divine. In October 2011, seven qawwal musicians -The Qawwal Bacche Delhi Gharana from Karachi- arrived in Paris from Pakistan, invited by the Theatre de la Ville. In parallel with their concert, they did something completely unusual for them: a masterclass of Sufi music for a group of young French singers. Heart Messengers captures moments of this authentic transmission from the East to the West, giving a sensitive grasp of this centuries-old tradition, based on Love.
