Armed with a guitar and sketch pad, a young man is traveling throughout Holland on bicycle. He makes several stops on his journey, relaxing by playing his guitar, or doing charcoal sketches of the sights and people he sees, which is the main purpose for this trek. Included among these sights are a wooded park, a beach, a few castles - one which has a guard in front - a traditional village, a windmill, a marina and barge along a canal, and finally a city which mixes the historical with the modern. At most of these stops, he sees a vision of the same young woman, who he inserts into his sketches, as tries to find out conclusively that she is real and not just a figment of his imagination. As he is about to leave Holland, he inadvertently ditches his primary purpose for the trip for what has now become a task of higher priority.
