Chanderi ki Shaadi

🎞️ Movie 89 min --
2013

In the township of Chanderi in North India, Umar 'Bachu-Bhai' Ansari has established his family as one of the area's top hand weaving collectives. It is wedding season and this year six of the Ansari children of the ages 19 to 24 years old will be getting married on the same day during one giant celebration. A filmmaker who had been working to document the hand weaving traditions of the town is enlisted to make a wedding movie of the coming events. In an agreement they decide to make this film together. This is the basis of the film. Imagine the subjects themselves becoming co-directors and technicians on the documentary about themselves. By becoming part of the film crew the young folks of Chanderi help capture an intimate look into events and ceremonies rarely seen outside of the rural Muslim communities of hand weavers in North India.
