Told in a non-linear style, this is the story of a man's interior journey as he comes to terms with a tragic event. James takes drugs and alcohol to escape from reality, or maybe they help him create a reality he can escape to. There are no conventions to tell us whether we are watching James's past or present, or whether they are a dream or reality. Because this is the journey of a broken psyche, we witness the events in a state of displacement as we watch pieces of a puzzle that doesn't immediately come together.
