Jonathan Ford is the last man on Earth. He doesn't know what he did to deserve such a title. He's spent a long time trying to figure out how and why, but is none the wiser. He tries to convince himself that there's still something left; that there's still a possible benefit to his misfortunes. His mental state is tested as he reflects on the parts of his life that he once thought mattered.
