Clint Manning, a young ex-con with anger issues, has always been judged by his imposing physical appearance but not much more. Eager to prove that he's smarter than he looks, Clint finds himself working in a bar run by an accomplished grifter named Selina Polaski, hoping that she will teach him the art of the confidence game. Clint's life is complicated when Polaski agrees to host a high-stakes heads-up poker game between her former lover and grifting partner Jason Roman and Roy Thompson, an Atlantic City gangster who plans on using Clint as a pawn in a plot to get revenge on Roman.
