The Quickening of the Heart is a short propaganda film of the Glen Tramway inspired by the style and structure of John Grierson's 1936 GPO documentary, 'Nightmail', following the journey of a mail train from London to Scotland. Written, directed and with original music composed by Augustin Bousfield using both traditional and electronic instrumentation, securely bolted to the sounds of the tramway itself. Quickening of the Heart features a poem with a nod to the Auden original by Christine Bousfield.
