Inter-caste marriages remain a rarity in India, but when Indira and Balakrishna Pillay chose to marry across caste lines in 1969, such unions were virtually unheard of. Life in America promised an escape from their feuding families as well as career opportunities, and despite plans to return to India, America soon became home. These days, the Pillays are a Midwestern suburban couple like so many others, and they have a lot to say about everything!
