On Oct. 31, 1984 the Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her bodyguards who were Sikhs. Soon after, mobs killed more than 3000 Sikhs in Delhi and more than 30,000 in the rest of India. Unofficially, the numbers are much higher and could never get recorded. Many Sikhs left India and migrated to different lands. This is the story of the widows and their sons. The aftermath of a massacre is evident even twenty-nine years later. The young men some of whom witnessed and some who did not are psychologically affected because of the brutal killings. Their mothers who are widows are the sole breadwinners to their families. A generation of men lost to massacre and another being lost to drugs.
