Allan Gurganus, noted North Carolina author, had not published a book in 12 years until Local Souls in 2013. This short film examines his feelings, process of writing, the domicile and environment he's created for his work, and much of what makes him love being 'local.' Through solitary interviews and reflections, he weaves stories and reveals his passions for the art form of writing. Finally, he takes his work public as the film culminates with a conversation between him and his mentor John Irving.
