One hundred years after the World War1 Anzacs fought to save our country, there is a new battle ground of warriors fighting to save our land. They want to save our natural environment, our farms, and aquifers from the decimation caused by open cut coal mining and coal seam gas extraction. This multi award winning poem succinctly captures the passionate struggle of these ordinary people. It questions why our governments allow greedy mining companies to dig up our precious land, devalue a farmer's property, ruin communities, and poignantly, ignore the sacrifices our WW1 soldiers made, 'so that we'd be safe and free'.
