Heal! Veterans & Their Service Dogs

HEAL! presents the first video in a series that features veterans speaking about their struggle with PTSD and how they are assisted by service dogs. Five Vets with their service dogs stress the importance of seeking help for PTSD and the benefits of having a service dog. The film aims to help veterans as well as further educate the general public about service dogs and PTSD. These Vets are part of a program provided by the nonprofit Operation Freedom Paws, Gilroy, CA. The dogs are rescued from shelters and the Vets are taught how to do the training and become certified. HEAL! is a project by Vicki Topaz that includes photographs, interviews, and video. 22 U.S. Veterans commit suicide every day.
