A moment in the sun is a vision of a romantic end of the world, where the environment overtakes the harshness of humankind; an amber journey paying homage to Ray Johnson's last performance. Sternberg recreates Johnson's final moments, lingering in the same hotel room, meandering and contemplating jumping from the same bridge. Framing this journey are performance clips blending the work of Johnson and Sternberg within the context of environmental destruction. We are left with a sudden cessation to Sternberg's journey, signifying the earth taking itself back. It is meant as a symbol for the journey of all of us. Blind to the beauty around us, we destroy our own environment, the seas rise, and it is as if we were never here.
