DERRIERE is a danced vaudeville for the screen that highlights the male posterior in humorous and esthetically provocative ways. Dancer/choreographer Peter Sparling edits his own improvisational performance for the camera, creating episodes that echo Muybridge's studies of human motion while commenting on the display of the nude male figure as both artist's model and provocateur.
