Etienne Pinson, a notary clerk, is sent by his employer to Juan-les-Pins, on the French Riviera. There he discovers the good life but living it up is not without inconvenience, for example when Etienne finds himself introducing a young beauty as his wife in the presence of his... own wife! But as Etienne hits the jackpot in the casino, his alleged unfaithfulness is easily forgiven.
